Emigration Association »Slovenia around the world« (Izseljensko društvo Slovenija v svetu - SVS) is a voluntary association of Slovenes from the homeland and from around the world. Its main aim is integrating Slovenes from the homeland and the world, exploring emigration issues and solving comprehensive needs in the fields of education, culture, cultural heritage, sport as well as assisting in arranging administrative documentation.

The association was established in 1992 following the initiative of Slovene emigrant descendants, who have moved to Slovenia after the independence, as well as other Slovenes from the homeland and the Diaspora who have felt an urgent need in establishing a competent player in the homeland.

SVS provides a vivid link between emigrants and the homeland; it provides support in the perseverance of the Slovene national identity outside Slovene territory while at the same time strives to enable comeback, remigration of Slovenes into their homeland and their integration in the Slovene milieu.

SVS is therefore the association which knows that wherever the Slovene word is spoken, and wherever the Slovene heart is felt, there a spiritual Slovenia is found.  

The aim of the SVS association is:

• integration of Slovene remigrants, Slovene emigrants around the world and Slovenes in the homeland,
• perseverance of ties among various emigration communities and cooperation with other emigration organizations in the homeland and abroad who share values and goals of the association, who are conscious of their national identity and who wish to transmit the Slovene character to their descendants,
• Assistance in personal and common perseverance of Slovene national integrity outside Slovene borders, notifications and consultations in relation to remigration into homeland.
