"Running Without Borders!" with this slogan, a special team will run at the jubilee – 10th –Half Karst Marathon which will take place on Sunday, 21 March 2010 in Sežana. Under the initiative by the ZSŠDI and a similar Slovenian sport association from Carinthia, the team will be composed also by the representatives of Slovenians living in other neighbouring countries. Its participation has also been confirmed by the team representing the Government Office for Slovenians abroad. All competitors will run the marathon under the common name/slogan – “Running without borders!”. Applications for this purpose will also be accepted by the Trieste and the Gorizia branch of the ZSŠD. All lovers of road running are welcomed to join our initiative and invite as many friends and acquaintances as possible in order to make our participation as numerous as possible. As mentioned, the Half Karst Marathon will take place on Sunday, 21 March 2010, starting and finishing in the Sport Park in Sežana. The race of a cross-border nature, which runs both in Slovenia and Italy, follows the rules of the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF), and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) by means of including the rules regarding the protection of the route, water stations along the course (and at the finish line), hot meal, race timing to provide a runner's performance, cups and awards for the best first three runners and medical provision. The route covers 21.098 metres and runs from Sežana through Lipica, Bazovica, Padriče, Trebče, Orlek and back to Sežana. In addition to running, the Half Karst Marathon encompasses other additional events, as follows: a family run covering 8,450 metres, “cici-hop” marathon covering 100 or 400 metres including the child protection and sport animation for the youngest, and a run/walk covering 5,000 metres.
